Quietbooking

Well, my best friends babies( well, her almost four year old and her almost one year olds) all have birthdays at the end of the month. I don’t usually do birthday gifts for children, because there are a lot of children in my life, but these kids are special. They are the greatest most amazing children the world has ever seen(so far, Joseph and I have yet to bring a child into this world Winking smile.)

So with that being said. Here are my intended gifts for them.

Caroline and Owen (who will be turning 1 in like 12 days…holy cow!)

I will be making quiet books. It took me awhile to decide how to do this. I didn’t want to give them one quiet book to share, but I also didn’t want to give them the same quiet book. So I think I have determined that I will make a cover(embroidered with something really cute, actually probably just “Owen’s Quiet book” and “Caroline’s Quiet book”) with binder rings for each of them, and all the pages are removable. I was trying not to play into “gender stereotypes” in deciding who gets which pages, but then I decided to make them interchangeable, so I can just give them how I like them, and Amy can switch them as she pleases. I also decided to start each of them out with a nursery rhyme. Caroline is five little monkey, Owen is the itsy bitsy spider. I think I’m going to have to work my tail off to finish these, but I’m excited to get started

Now it may seem that Owen has more pages, but Caroline will also be getting a rainbow page, and both will be getting a counting beads abacus(there was one in my quiet book growing up and it was my FAVORITE.)

Stephanie over at imagineourlife.com has so many AMAZING patterns to choose from. It was very difficult to narrow them down. I’m thinking about maybe making double of every one I do, so I will have some stored up for my children/nieces and nephews. I will post picture updates of my progress. Like I said, I only have twelve days(practically all of my twoweekwait!!!!), so I plan on being pretty busy. Yay for having fun! Now, I’m off to buy felt!

My niece has a name!

So my younger brother and his fiance came up with a name for my future neice….Drum Roll…..

Well, first let me show what I made for her. I made this onesie before we even knew it was a girl. Figuring, if it wasn’t, I could always keep it until later. But I left the center open so I could put her first initial on it. So naturally, today I finished it.WP_20131005_006WP_20131005_005WP_20131005_004charlotte

Now all she needs is a cute little tutu. Best baby niece ever(I can say this, as I don’t have any other baby nieces, the next one is a big 7 year old!)
